Six months jail for man admitting to injuring someone with a rock in attack

A MAN was sentenced to six months in prison yesterday after admitting he injured another man with a rock during an altercation on Marathon Road last December.

John Basden, 23, struck Jamie Sturrup in the face with a rock during the dispute on December 22, 2024.

He was charged with causing harm before Senior Magistrate Anishka Isaacs.

Basden pleaded guilty and accepted responsibility for the attack.

Magistrate Isaacs admonished him for his violent actions and sentenced him to six months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Assistant Superintendent of Police K Bould prosecuted the case.
