A WOMAN was fined in court after admitting to stealing over $4,000 from an insurance company where she worked last summer.
Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly arraigned Shamel Sherman, 42, on stealing by reason of employment charges.
While working at AFS Insurance, Sherman is accused of stealing $4,019.99 from the company between May 1, 2024 and August 31, 2024.
Sherman pleaded guilty to the charge and expressed remorse for her actions.
She was ordered to fully reimburse the complainant.
Sherman is also expected to pay a fine of $1,500.
Failure to comply with either condition would carry a six-month prison term.
Sergeant Vernon Pyfrom served as the prosecutor.

So you can steal $4,000 from your employer and if you are caught and actually get brought to court then it will cost you a fine of $1,500. Hmmm, better odds than those offered by the gambling businesses it seems.
