A MAN was remanded to prison yesterday after being accused of raping a woman he had offered a ride to earlier this month on East Bay Street.
Olrick Farrington Jr, 41, appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans, charged with two counts of rape.
Farrington Jr allegedly raped a 34-year-old woman twice, once near Montague Beach and again at Yamacraw Beach, sometime after 4am on July 19.
The victim was reportedly offered a ride by the accused on East Street prior to the alleged assaults.
Farrington Jr was not required to enter a plea during the hearing. He was informed that the case will proceed to the Supreme Court via a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
He was also advised of his right to apply for bail through the higher court.
Until then, the defendant will remain in custody at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services. The VBI is expected to be served on December 8.
