AN 18-year-old man was placed on 18 months probation yesterday after admitting to throwing a rock that injured his girlfriend outside her mother’s home last week.
Ranandez Ranger was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley on charges of grievous harm and threats of death.
On June 12, following a verbal altercation with Sarina Joseph, Ranger threw a rock at her, striking her in the eye and causing significant bleeding. During the same incident, he allegedly threatened to kill her.
Ranger pleaded guilty and apologised for his actions.
He received a conditional discharge and was placed on probation for 18 months. As part of the sentence, he must complete 100 hours of community service, attend six months of anger management counselling, and pay the complainant $1,000 in compensation.
Failure to comply with any of these conditions will result in an 18-month prison sentence.
Ranger is scheduled to return to court for a status report on December 17.
Inspector Wilkinson served as the prosecutor.
