Investigation into boy’s death

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a young boy who died after being taken to the South Beach Clinic for a second time in as many days.

The child was brought to the clinic unresponsive by his father shortly before 9am on Wednesday, June 18, according to police. Medical staff attempted to assist but the child was pronounced dead on arrival.

Preliminary reports indicate the boy had first been treated at the same clinic the day before, on June 17. He was then referred to Princess Margaret Hospital for further care, treated, and later discharged.

However, his condition reportedly worsened overnight. His father rushed him back to the South Beach Clinic the next morning, where he was declared dead by a doctor.

The Criminal Investigation Department is now handling the case.
