MORE than a year after its formation, the immigration commission responsible for reviewing how decisions are made has yet to produce its report — but Minister of Immigration and National Insurance Alfred Sears insists it will be completed “in due course”.
At the Immigration Connect City Pop-Up at Christie Park on Friday, Mr Sears said the commission has been gathering data, conducting site visits, and consulting officials to assess current immigration policies and practices.
“The prime minister,” he said, “appointed a commission to review national immigration policies and practices and to make certain recommendations. I had the opportunity to meet several times with the commission. The commission has also been meeting with various components of the immigration department, and we are giving the commission complete cooperation.”
The immigration commission was launched amid heated national debates over immigration enforcement, border security, and pathways to regularisation.
In October 2023, Mr Davis announced the commission’s formation to assess discretionary decisions made by the Department of Immigration. The move came months after leaked reports raised concerns about alleged interference by former Immigration Minister Keith Bell.
Mr Sears said the commission’s preliminary report shows “that the work and the quality of the immigration officers really been sterling.”

Alfred Sears is a very old man. .
He might just be doing the best he can. .
He wanted to lead the PLP, .
thought himself a good PM would be. .
Luckily for the country this never came about. .
With lack of achievements, of that there is no doubt. .
Useless as minister of works, at BEC as well. .
Whether with this one he’ll be better, .
Only time gone by will tell. .
Sigh…..

In due course the immigration minister will run up against Elon and Trump. -- Me's no psychiatrist, a psychologist nor a therapist of any kind but I didn't have to sit them down on a couch to conclude neither Trump nor Elon got hugs from their Daddies. -- Somehow have separate Elon and Trump cause one can't go anywhere without the other. --- No way any psychiatrist wants to risk sitting the two on the couch during the same office visit. -- Yes?

Are you also speaking for all of the children in our country who had to grow up with little or no help from their useless father, assuming they even knew the identity of their father?
