The two-day Bahamian Music & Heritage Festival will return to the Regatta Site in George Town, Exuma, on March 14-15 for its 19th annual celebration of this nation’s culture and traditions.
“For 19 years, this festival has been a cornerstone of our cultural identity, providing an authentic Bahamian experience that captivates both locals and visitors,” said Chester Cooper, deputy prime minister and minister of tourism, investments and aviation.
“Cultural tourism is a key pillar of our national tourism strategy, and events like this not only preserve our heritage but also create meaningful economic opportunities for our communities.” This year’s festival will feature a line-up of Bahamian musicians, cultural performances and related activities.
The concert series will showcase top Bahamian entertainers, with performances on Friday, March 14, by Da Pond Band, Papa Carly, Dimitri, Ironn Storr, Shine 242, Blaudy and D Mac. On Saturday, March 15, the stage will be graced by Bassel Smith, Jammin’ Rahming, Nishie L.S., Geno D and K.B. Hosted by Rika C, with music by DJ Code Red, the festival promises high-energy performances that celebrate the diverse sounds of The Bahamas.
Beyond the music, attendees will enjoy a variety of cultural experiences, including fire dancing, traditional Bahamian games and interactive arts and crafts demonstrations. The Kids Corner will offer fun-filled activities for young festival-goers, while Da Festival Kitchen will serve authentic Bahamian cuisine, giving guests a taste of the islands.
A highlight of the festival will be the Junkanoo Dolls competition, a Rolla Bolla and Fire Show, and a Junkanoo rush-out. The daytime activities are free to the public until 5pm, after which the concert and cultural show will take place until..... Admission for the evening events is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
