A 42-year-old man was denied bail yesterday after being accused of stealing $2,000 from a medical centre on Montrose Avenue last week.

Micheal “Omo” Johnson was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Anishka Isaacs on a charge of stealing from a shop.

Prosecutors allege that on May 20, Johnson stole $2,000 in cash, along with toiletries and breakfast items valued at $234, from the Bahamas Medical & Healing Centre.

He pleaded not guilty.

Assistant Superintendent of Police K Bould, who prosecuted the matter, objected to bail, citing Johnson’s prior convictions for similar offences.

Johnson was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until his trial, which is set to begin on June 18.
