A 23-year-old man was remanded to prison yesterday after being accused of firing a gun near a woman on Harbour Island last month.

Prosecutors allege that Trevon Higgs wantonly discharged a firearm on Dunmore Street, Eleuthera, around 12.19am on September 12, endangering the life of Dawn Major.

Higgs was charged before Senior Magistrate Kara Turnquest Deveaux with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and wantonly discharging a firearm. He was not required to enter a plea, as the matter will be sent to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until the service of his VBI on February 17 2026, and must apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

Quinton Percentie represented the accused.
