A PROPOSED plea deal collapsed yesterday after the accused rejected the prosecution’s statement of facts in a case involving the alleged 2023 sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl on Harbour Island, Eleuthera.
Prosecutors allege Alonzo Pinder, 26, had sexual intercourse with an underage girl between July 1 and 31 2023.
Before Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns, Pinder declined to accept the facts underpinning a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse. As a result, the prosecution withdrew its offered eleven-year plea agreement and the matter will proceed to trial.
Pinder is due back in court on Wednesday for the setting of trial dates. Ian Cargill represents the accused.
