Teen accused of stabbing man granted $2,500 bail

A TEENAGE boy was granted bail yesterday after being accused of stabbing a man in New Providence over the summer.

Police allege the defendant, whose name is being withheld because he is a minor, stabbed and seriously injured Athens Fawkes on July 27 in New Providence. Fawkes was treated in hospital for his injuries.

The defendant denied a charge of grievous harm before Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly-Burrows. His mother was present during the arraignment.

Bail was set at $2,500 with one or two sureties. As conditions, the defendant must sign in at the Quakoo Street Police Station every Saturday by 6pm and observe a daily curfew from 7pm to 6am. His trial is scheduled to begin on December 11.

Glendon Rolle represented the accused. Sergeant Vernon Pyfrom was the prosecutor.
