THE UNIVERSITY of The Bahamas has warned prospective students and members of the public against fraudulent online advertisements falsely promoting UB courses and programmes, cautioning that those who engage with the scams could risk having their personal information or money compromised.

In a statement, UB said the advertisements are not connected to the institution and cautioned prospective students and members of the public against engaging with the material.

“These advertisements are false and members of the public are urged to exercise caution,” the university said.

UB advised individuals not to click on links, provide personal information or make payments through the fraudulent advertisements, warning that scammers may be attempting to obtain sensitive data or money by misusing the university’s name and branding.

The institution said it is actively investigating the matter and intends to pursue action against those responsible for the unauthorised use of UB’s name, images and visual identity.

“The University is actively investigating this matter and will take appropriate action against those responsible for the unauthorized use of the UB name, brand, images and visual identity,” the statement said.

UB stressed that all legitimate courses and programmes are promoted only through the university’s official communication channels, including its website and verified social media platforms.

The university urged prospective students and the wider public to verify any advertisement claiming to represent UB before taking action, especially if it requests personal information or payment.

“Please stay alert,” it said. “Share this advisory and help us prevent others from being misled.”
