AN adult male driver died following an early-morning traffic accident on Carmichael Road near South West Plaza on Monday.

Police said they were notified of the collision shortly before 2am and, upon arriving at the scene, found a blue Honda Fit extensively damaged with four male occupants trapped inside.

Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle collided with a fence belonging to a business establishment before crashing into a tree on the northern side of the roadway.

Fire Services personnel freed the occupants from the wreckage, and Emergency Medical Services transported them to hospital, where they were admitted in serious condition.

Traffic investigators were later informed by medical personnel that the adult male driver had died while receiving treatment.
