A GRAPHIC video circulating on social media shows bystanders frantically trying to help a 24-year-old man moments after he was fatally shot near Bay Street and Parliament Street early yesterday.

The Tribune understands the victim was Alistair Major. Police said the victim was wearing an electronic monitoring device in connection with a serious offence but did not disclose the nature of that matter.

In the roughly 40-second video, Major is seen lying motionless on the pavement with a bloody head as several people check his pulse, shake him and try to position his body.

The scene is chaotic, with people shouting and cursing as they attempt to help him. At one point, several bystanders appear to turn him onto his side before returning him to his back. One man is seen sitting beside Major with his head down as others remain gathered around him.

Police said officers received reports shortly after 2.30am of an unresponsive man who had been shot in the area of Bay Street and Parliament Street.

Initial investigations indicate that the victim became involved in a verbal altercation with another man, who allegedly produced a firearm and shot him.

Police said the suspect fled the area in a white Japanese vehicle, travelling south along Parliament Street.

The Nassau Guardian reported in July 2024 that Major had been charged in connection with the attempted murder of Rayshaun Rolle.

Another video circulating on social media appears to show Major alive at a nightclub wearing what seem to be the same clothes seen in footage recorded after the shooting.

It was alleged online that the video captured some of his final moments alive.

The footage shows Major appearing to be in good spirits, holding a drink and displaying money.

V12 Restaurant & Lounge, which is located in the area, later issued a statement expressing condolences to the victim’s family and distancing the establishment from the incident.

“Based on the information available to us, the incident did not originate inside V12 Restaurant & Lounge, and the individuals involved did not enter our establishment,” the restaurant said.

The business said it would refrain from further speculation while the police investigation remains ongoing.

“We encourage the public to allow the appropriate authorities to conduct their investigation and, most importantly, to keep the affected family and loved ones in their thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time,” the business said.
