POLICE on Grand Bahama are investigating a break-in at a public school in Eight Mile Rock, where cash and other items were stolen.

According to police, officers were notified shortly before 8am on Monday that an unknown person or persons had broken into Martin Town Primary School.

When officers arrived at the school, they spoke with the principal, who told them the premises had been secured at about 4.30pm on Friday.

On returning to the school at around 7.45am on Monday, she discovered that someone had gained entry through the door to her office.

Several doors and windows were damaged during the break-in, police reported.

The school’s cellular phone, $150 in cash and an assortment of coins were stolen.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing. Anyone with information that may assist police with the investigation is asked to contact the nearest police station.
