A 37-year-old Austrian woman was seriously injured after being bitten by a shark off North Bimini on Monday.

Police said the incident occurred shortly after 5.30pm on September 14, 2026, while the woman was participating in a dolphin excursion approximately three nautical miles off the coast of North Bimini.

The woman reportedly sustained serious injuries to her right ankle during the attack.

She was transported to the Bimini Community Clinic before being airlifted to New Providence, where she is receiving further medical treatment.
