Government depends on these *little* votes to quietly remove your freedoms. One day, when sheet hits the fan, they will say "but you understood the questions and you voted accordingly" just like when they told everyone it was VOLUNTARY or VAT. Remember that? (I don't, they were being a little sneaky don't you think.) It's the public's fault for the inevitable VAT (Not government incompetency and corruptions). And it's the public being held responsible for the ineptitude of border patrol officers. Fact.

If the government implements a national ID i would fully support it. The Bahamas has a very small population and honestly easily taking over by foreigners. Keep in mind if someone hold a Bahamian passport you are a Bahamian citizen regardless where you come from. A national id would give you a better understanding who does and does not belong in your country. Similar to a drivers license. If a police officer catching you driving without one you will be dealt with. If the national id is passed if a Immigration catching someone living in the Bahamas without a national id he or she will be detained process and deported. The persons who have a problem with it either illegal or hire illegals for cheap labor and as a result encourage illegals to come to our country. Press on brave men and woman of the Immigration Department.

What they NEED to do is weed out the corruption in the police force and immigration and have them do their jobs...I have dealt with LEGAL Haitians for a while, they tell me every day that some of their friends that are not legal get stopped regularly by the police and immigration, and it is a shake down, the police and immigration will let them go it they happen to have $50 or $100 in their pocket...some even joke that it happens near the weekend when they police know the guys are getting their wages and they say the cops dem want dey beer money. Start by fixing that problem first, because National ID or not, that will still take place. and the haitians will stay and multiply.

I stole this from another 'news' website...sorry...but just to put it in perspective...some of the countries that force their citizens and residents to move about 'unfreely' within their country include...

"This puts us in such "illustrious" company as countries like Lebanon, Iran, Turkey, Botswana and of course North Korea"
