Hmmm..I don't "want" income tax, but I have a feeling we need it. I have a feeling that things are extraordinarily bad and no one is communicating how bad it really is because no one wants to be unpopular. If the government came out in a national address and said with somber faces, we have to introduce income tax by October(?) or our dollar will be devalued in December, would it would put a different spin on things? Would anyone answer no to wanting income tax?

Please please please put the best people in place to manage the economy. The decisions made over the next few months will be critical to our survival. The people at the helm in finance need to be the best we have, right now, they're not

I don't agree that the Bahamas should have an income tax because, the poor is already being squeezed by VAT, create some higher paying jobs with VAT first, then talk about strapping more burdens onto the backs of the poor who has to scrap every day just to feed themselves and their children.

Fire the excess public service. Cut Bamsi completely. Sell BahamasAir. Tax the webshops 50% of earnings. Start a national lottery. Do all these things before considering income tax.

Bahamapundit, I agree sell (giveaway) bahamas air, water and sewerage, b.e.c. or whatever the hell its called. Cut the civil service back to what is needed, shut down bamsi. Have the police start ticketing for traffic offences, tints, rolling stops, parking in fire lanes, speeding, unsafe vehicles, this alone would bring in millions of dollars.

I forgot the web shops. Close them down and start a national lottery where profits from it would go to education. This is where we need to improve! We must do a better job of educating our kids. Open up immigration so we can florish as a country for Gods sake. Look at the history!!!

eradicate customs and maybe I'll go for it. Also need legislation that allows the death penalty for those that abuse public funds. IF you fill your pockets at the expense of the country and the people then you should have your assets seized foreign and domestic and you should be out to death.

You steal from the public purse then you die. With that in place then I'd be open to new taxation. But until I see new fiscal responsibility legislation then I don't support taxes of any kind. This is a game for these guys and gals and the average Bahamian is the sucker getting taken for a ride. I'm tired of that nonsense. Make an example out of most of them and then we'll see integrity in public office.
