The local rep for Amnesty International should get his people straight. He has been living more than comfortably for years in this country off the estate of a relative who married into huge money. Having a hissy fit over the conditions at Fox Hill is one thing. Protecting our borders is another. If you are illegal, then you are not supposed to be here, including those who breed like rabbits.

Mr Georges said: “Here you have people who are over the age of 18, who were born here, grew up here all their lives, who have applied already for naturalisation – the right way – and they are waiting on you (government), YOUR system is inefficient. Notice how these people who suppose to be Bahamians but are Haitian descendent distance themselves from the Bahamas when it comes to any issues with Haitians on a whole. He is not saying our system is inefficient. He is saying YOUR system is inefficient.

We fail to see the danger in a people who are so bold in their quest to get what they want by all means necessary. Now this chap is considering running in the next election. I always say, use this energy to build the place where you consider your roots to be. Mr. Georges does not consider his roots to be that of a Bahamian heritage. His love is for the Haitian heritage. Georges needs to be reminded that ya can't have your cake and eat it too. If I feel I am not wanted somewhere, I would simply move home, where I know I am welcomed and help build my country.

What "racist undercurrents"? If anything, there may be religious innuendo regarding those who breed like rabbits. I know of no other nations of a few hundred thousand that have an immigration policy which allows tens of thousands to immigrate illegally, procreate and utilize health, welfare and educational resources. You are certainly no true "grassroot" for if you were, you would have a concern for this nation's culture, heritage and future.

Amnesty International is a proven useless organization having failed to stop Syrias' Assad from slaughtering 200,000 of his own people.

Dominican Republics' decision to reject Amnesty International and others interference on their own Haitian invasion was the right thing to do.

Nobody is telling the dam Haitians to stop invading other countries!

C'mon PM it is crucial you don't treat what Minister Freddy has stuck his very political neck out on, as some kind popularity contest suck up to Haitian groups and the international bleeding hearts. How did the Haitians show their appreciation for the Dominican Republic, after having opened its border to allow for international aid to cross over into Haiti, after the earthquake that stuck Haiti in 2010? PM I will tell you how they demonstrated their appreciation. The number of illegal Haitians crossing over border into "kind-hearten" Dominican Republic doubled to 2 million. I said at time when Minister Freddy first announced pending action that none of his colleagues went public to stand with him. Not one damn Comrade PLP MP. Guess what PM you have just proven me right. How is Bahamaland being thanked. Threatening to slit citizens open like a Colombian necktie. And, if you're lucky enough survive that, them will boycott our tourism industry, back to dark ages. PM enough is enough. No more talk. Support the "legal and democratic" actions of your Minister Freddy, or pack your damn bags like your former law partner did. PM when was last time you personally paid a visit to one of our mainly populated by by Haitians slum Shanty Towns? All evidence is in front you PM?

My issue with Amnesty International is that they meddle where they do not belong. In civilized country, with democratically elected government, where the rule of law functions, there is no need for this organization. Where they are needed they have absolutely no effect or influence. Dictatorships like China and Russia, and Muslim governed countries.

Absolutely. On many occasions and it is for the most part a thankless task. Dedication to slamming the government for protecting the borders, albeit very late in the day, is not an act of generosity to Bahamians by an expat in his or her adopted home.

If Amnesty International is so concerned about Haitians then it should help them to stay in Haiti,
and teach them how to make lives better in their own country! The Bahamas is a small nation with a small population we don't need to be invaded by these people. Let The USA take them they are far more financially equipped and Little Haiti Ms. Campbell will be able to get them all green cards! No other Caribbean nation wants Haitian in their country and nor should us. Dominican Republic did the same thing why didn't Amnesty International intervene? Let the Haitian government use all the money they got from around the world to help its citizen and be accountable for what it did with all the money to rebuild Haiti after the Tsunami. Haitians need to make their government responsible for their economic growth and well being in Haiti not The Bahamas! Our country is tired of the burden impose on our education and medical system due to the illegal migration of Haitians.

We must support our government don;t give the Haitians any jobs or living accommodations! treat them as a threat of which they are none of our fore fathers wanted them in this country and we should continue to do whats right for Bahamians! The Bahamas was and is blessed because of God and no one else. Voodoo is the Haitians way of life so they should ask their government why this lil nation is thriving and not them and where is all the millions or billions of tsunami dollars. All the world organisation should make the Haitian government responsible and accountable for its citizen and the aide money it received. Not even America is allowing them to migrate or enter without passports and visas. Nor will we!

Firstly, why are you basing your argument on one person's comment? Secondly, It is your rights not to come to the Bahamas, no one invited you anyway, So let's not even ponder on the free paid passage. You can't be serious about China taking over the Bahamas! I don't know of any website called chinesebahamas. But there is one called http://chinesejamaican.com/. Yur space been taken over by Chinese, Please do not compare in any country with its citizens being arrested for drug related charges to that of Jamaica. Because Jamaicans are famous for being arrested all around the world for these same charges you are pinning on couple Bahamians who have lost their way. You are right with one thing though: The Bahamas did indeed extent invitations for Jamaican teachers and other professionals. Some schools still advertise for Jamaican teachers. This does not make Jamaicans any smarter. It only spells out that our small nation of less than half a million people do not have enough professionals to meet the demands of all of these institutions and or business. The fact is, some Jamaican teachers still live here today. Obviously they do not share your sentiments about the Bahamas. I am not saying that Bahamians are perfect people. All countries have their issues. But don't go hating on us just because of our prosperity!

By the way, the Bahamas has recruited professional from all over the Caribbean. But Jamaicans accept the invitation more because for some reason, they wanna get the hell out of Jamaica. Speaking of distinct culture; Any country that pushes its culture above all other countries, saying it is better than the rest and only that culture rules needs to move away from this narrow way of thinking. The world is bigger that Jamaican culture. You cannot expect to grow as a country and fit in the global market unless you embrace other people's culture. So be proud of your culture but stop comparing it to that of others.

You are ignorant ............ and stupid ................ if you believe what you just wrote. Do you have any inkling of the impact of illegal immigration and the strain it has caused on our limited national resources in the past 50 years??

Do not be an apologist for the Caribbean ......... they do not have our best interest at heart.

At one time they were RICH and we were POOR. We have worked hard to improve our standard of living and they have squandered theirs. Go read some history before you spout nonsense.

@jamaicaproud- I don't want to make this a back and forth confrontation. You wrote,"Well Maybe Jamaicans are the most qualified and those who get any opportunity take advantage. Why is it in 2014 your country cannot produce its own teachers, and yet you claim outsiders are taking over. Why not make it a national goal to make sure all teachers are Bahamians. " This statement in itself shows your contempt towards Bahamians. Besides what you are saying is childish. It's like a child saying, "my ice cream bigger than your ice cream." Anyway, point aside, the Bahamas has the means to produce any amount of teachers necessary. The fact is Bahamians who attend colleges in general are not interested in becoming teachers. Most college students are looking at more highly paid professions. It is simply stupid to make all teachers Bahamians. Again you are thinking like a narrow minded individual. Diversity should always be in the mix when it comes to education.

I admit that Bahamians need to be more accepting towards other nationalities. But Jamaicans do not have a good record of respecting other people's culture either. I can say our excuse is that we are a young nation and are still learning. After reading your comments, I have come to the conclusion that you have an axe to grind though. You shouldn't put all Bahamians in one basket because of your past experience or hearsay. Or maybe you are upset because you or someone you know was deported. Don't get mad, get glad!

Many people from all over the world love to visit the Bahamas, as does our family, which will continue to do so for years to come.

The Haitian problem has been ongoing for decades, and Americans in particular are in no mood to be told what to do by politicians.

Immigration department keep up the good work! Just one thing what about capturing and sending back the many undocumented illegal Jamaicans, working in the homes of many affluent Bahamians. I have never heard a Haitian bad mouth the Bahamas but Jamaicans do it all the time and if here illegally please leave!
