A heart of thanksgiving

WHILE our neighbours to the north celebrate Thanksgiving this month, we continue to have harvest thoughts as well, so that it all speaks to us of being grateful. Jeremiah writes: “But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts; they have turned aside and gone away. They do not say to themselves, ‘Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’ Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.” (Jeremiah 5:23-25)

EDITORIAL: Don't be fooled - this is a SAFE country for tourism

Bahamians are well aware that our tourism and financial services industries are the twin pillars of the nation’s economy. While information about what we offer as an attractive destination for tourists should be suitably alluring, it also needs to be accurate in order to protect our reputation. Sickle Cell Association works to create positive, lasting change

When a 26-year-old man declared he would die in hospital, it was difficult to believe. There was no gunshot wound, no visible signs of trauma, nor was there an apparatus attached to him indicating he was under critical care. However, like he predicted, 20 minutes later, after calling his mother, the father to a two-year-old took his last breath. Minnis becomes a true leader

Dr Hubert A Minnis (FNM-Killarney), our erstwhile Prime Minister, has transformed himself into a “real” leader right before our eyes. This is remarkable in that less than a year ago, the good doctor had been written off by many Bahamians and political pundits. I must confess that while I had endorsed him to become leader of the badly demoralized FNM back in 2012, when he appeared on my then radio talk show, REAL TALK LIVE, I too had my initial doubts that he could rise to the occasion.

NEW YORK (AP) — Sam Bankman-Fried's lawyer said Tuesday that a suggested 100-year prison sentence for the FTX founder by an arm of the court is "grotesque" and "barbaric" and at most a term of a few years behind bars is appropriate for cryptocurrency crimes that the California man still disputes.
