Excellent. If only more Bahamians would speak out about the ridiculous things going on in this country - things that go on unchecked regardless of whether PLP or FNM are in power.
The US travel alert is actually quite generous. And "national pride" about keeping the country clean?!? For a country so dependent on tourism, the Bahamas is filthy. The level of littering is appalling.
Guy, completely agree. Unacceptable. What does this say to Bahamians and the rest of the world? That the justice system and the Bahamian govt is a joke. Heads would roll if this happened in Canada, UK, USA, etc. Actually, I don't think that an AG in Canada, UK, USA, etc. would even have the nerve to try something like this, knowing they would never get away with it. The Bahamas is becoming a real banana republic.
Maynard-Gibson represented the accused and is now the AG that discontinues the charges against her former clients??? Is this a joke? How can we expect Bahamians to have any faith in the justice system if blatant conflict of interest (or at least blatant perceived conflict) is allowed to continue unchecked. The PM should demand her resignation.
Mr. Bowe is so right. But concernedcitizen is correct about govt workers. There are already too many. A country cannot survive by looking to govt as its main employer.
This is beyond tragic. And the Rand's silence is obviously exacerbating the unimaginable pain that Mrs. Shepard and her family are enduring.
The person or persons, and institutions, responsible must be held accountable. It is bad enough that this happened - to try to cover it up is revolting.
Where is the Minister of Health? Dr. Gomez will you order an investigation?
Mr. D'Aguilar is absolutely correct. The government bureaucracy in the Bahamas is atrocious, unlike any I have experienced elsewhere. And xenophobia is blatant. e.g. when requesting Police clearance certificates at the Police Department there is a sign on the wall "Bahamians 1 day, Non-Bahamians 3 weeks." There is no difference is the search or effort required. Just keep the foreigners waiting because they are not Bahamian.

Agreed. Suspend them for the season. Suspending just for the post season is non-sense.
