Was thinking the same thing when Min. of Sports said the meeting and details of gifts given is private! Whatever they get from the Government of The Bahamas is the business of the people of the Bahamas. Now if the Perry Christie and Danny Johnson, as private citizens want to give them a private gift, that's their business! But let me add that I agree that they should be rewarded!
What I need to know is why a political candidate is accompanying Government ministers, Officials etc on government business? He has not been elected to Parliament yet so he is just a PLP (political) possible candidate (not nominated yet)! The Government Ministers, Administrators, District Council members, etc. represent all Bahamians, so it is wrong to have Mr. Curry (presumably) campaigning on "our dime"! Tax dollars come from all Bahamians, not just PLP's! In a recent issue of The Abaconian, there was a picture of Mr. Curry with other Government officials, including South Abaco MP Edison Key, on more Government (official) tours. Mr. Curry was named in the caption and story while Mr. Key was not!!! Bahamians need to speak up! Imagine if during the 2012 general election campaign the Government had taken fnm candidates such as Howard Johnson, Theo Neilly, Pakeshia Parker, etc.on official Government business????? Wrong is wrong! Speak up Bahamas!
**"What we will do is offer a glimpse of the future to the people of Abaco, let them see what it would be like to have a representative on the PLP side in parliament, in office, and to hope that that would be sufficient for them to vote for us.**”...Perry Christie. A glimpse into the future with a PLP representative?? So is that a condition to having the Government continue to contribute to the growth of North Abaco??? And what happens if the majority (reminder the majority of Bahamians did NOT vote PLP on May 7th) do not choose a PLP representative? Will N. Abaco be ignored/ neglected for 5 years? Its 2012, time for all politicians to realize that "voting right" is outdated! That's why we have local government - to report to central government the needs of the district/ constituency. All constituencies should have whatever is necessary( as budget allows) to not only survive, but progress. In this way our country will move forward! The funds in the treasury are NOT PLP funds, they are from taxes paid by bahamians! Don't come round here trying to "persuade" us to vote PLP! The argument to be on the "winning team" didn't persuade PLP's to support Mr. Ingraham and he was the Prime Minister!
