No, because we keep getting drug cartel affiliates in two major political parties that are in for the bonus and screwing over the country's reputation. While other countries in this region and this organization is trying to aid their allies while they can.
We as Bahamians are damned if we do and damned if we don't. Dropping the WTO will only delay the inevitable. We'll still go bankrupt but faster because we can't think outside the box and will resort to laundering money and disrupting vital projects by derailing money from said project for personal gain. The WTO may have ideas or two to provide new ways to make money, but stealing from the country remains a concern. Dying slower but having an organization capable of reporting corruption is somewhat helpful.
Besides DDK, we're the most spoiled, rotten Caribbean nation. I mean, we got so much money from the illegal drug trade, yet that money cursed us and created webshop money smugglers and big time Bahamian kingpins in gangs. We can't get rich off of nothing legal anymore. Don't use foreigners as an excuse.
No one seems to REALLY understand how extremely hard and risky to recruit and train locals to manage any high duty banking and business without making critical and fatal mistakes that can sink a banking company. There's barely anyone that can stay in Nassau to manage anything without money laundering or the web shops taking valuable customers away from the banks on family islands. How can a Bahamian go through college to reach to management and only to have financial corruption and supposed "legal" gambling screwing them over, making your efforts futile, fruitless and a waste of time.
If only we sweep up corruption and the re-criminalize the web shops once again, Bahamian and foreign banks will stand a chance against any challenge.
Again. It's kinda hard to find Bahamians who are usually qualified in those higher-level fields. Even if one is found, they are already planning to leave the country. And other college-trained Bahamians are qualified in a different field, and already long gone to Canada and the US.
Why are they allowing criminality to appear as a glamorous life without danger? Seriously, they REALLY need to invest in national security in not against illegal Haitians, but against gangbangers overall that flashes their murderous toys in front of our eyes, and recruit kids into this garbage job.
America isn't responsible for your mistakes. We've allowed ourselves to destroy our banking system through money laundering, and further made more steps towards destruction by allowing an illegal set of big web shops to operate without authority and supervision. The crime war has nearly taken three thousand Bahamians, and nothing is being done to control the gangs and improve the situation. We were the majority for 45 years, but we went on to the wrong path. It will destroy us all unless we see reason.
I mean, yes. But on the matters of political and geo-graphical location. It's better for the Bahamas to stay somewhat loyal to the US trade and joint military efforts.
Load of garbage and criminality. The number boys before 2013 were running an illegal gambling venture outside of an established and controlled area from Atlantis. The rumors of segregated gambling is a lie, just so we can be lazy. (Black) Bahamians would had owned a gambling venture, but in a controlled and responsible manner like Atlantis. We voted NO, yet they managed to win.
Those shops were unregulated, money laundering sites for Sebas and Craig to feed the gangs more funds for the street wars. Yet that's positive? No.. We could have benefited from gambling, but as open and transparent to the law enforcement so we can understand where the money is going.
The Bahamas has been a narco-state and paradise for criminals and terrorists too long, and this success has cursed Bahamians to do the same thing, sell drugs, rape, launder money and kill and you will have fame and glory, and when America tries to help, they're wrong. Horrid, atrocious and terrible behaviors that we've allowed too long. We need to benefit from legit and fair activities, not terrorist or criminal level ventures.
Really? Bloody Chinese? Look, I don't hate them, but having a Chinese-allied Bahamas will raise massive concerns. First we'll get sanctions, then we'll get BS knockoffs from them and even with China Airlines, it's still too expensive to get to mainland China.
Sorry to say, it ain't possible. We're made to be America's allies no matter what.

Maybe so, but can we do it without selling out to criminal or terrorist organizations?
I mean. We got really spoiled after the 80's. I'm pretty sure we're being peer-pressured by the drug cartels right now.
