We are economic prisoners with our blasted exchange control laws. Our economy is not set up for growth from within, but rather nothing but the Sir Stafford Sands Model of FDI.
Gutless politicians that YOU support and a incompetent Prime Minister YOU defend. Miller stop smoking that pot cake crack pipe please. You're entire party has done more damage to this country in 5 years than 25 years under Pindling, the "Father of the Nation" $Godfather of Cocaine.
This require a culture shift. Considering how fast food joints are popping up like herpes, our continuously raising levels of obesity, breast cancer and high blood pressure/diabetes... I don't see this changing.
Hard to compare the Bahamas to Israel, a country under US protection and military AID funding for decades (arms is one of their largest industries subsidized by the USA). Business relations with Israel and the US are stellar and there is a ton of capitol flowing in from New York and France (two biggest communities of Jewish people). Israel is basically a country that started with a massive influx of capitol from all over the world to concentrate in one little place. Not capitol owned by foreign investors but the people themselves, which mostly comes from Europe. Also their military reality defines a lot of their culture and drive for success and defense. There is very little in common.
That aside the push from their government to create an environment in which entrepreneurs can flourish with manageable risk is commendable and something we should adapt to our reality.
So you're foreign minister Flying Freddy boy trash talks Sarkis, tells him to get examined and threatens deportation and you expect investors to come in droves?
Also, lack of post-independence planning? wow I wonder which party ruled for 20 years after we got independent...
I wouldn't be surprised if the PLP won again. A bit of a nightmare scenario under Christie again, but I have no confidence in the Bahamian electorate or the opposition forces.
Seems like Bahamians are annoying of being shafted from the government, it only took 40+ years but alas we are here and gearing up to re-elect the PLP unless something gives between the opposition parties. This may just be the beginning of another 5 years of scary Perry

Our politicians make Donald Trump seem like a seasoned politician with amazing policy plans. I am tired, will they just drive off a cliff already?
