They are calling it Celebration "Key", but it isn't even an island. Just a chunk of land on a larger island (that already has a name). But should we really expect better from the Dollar General of cruise lines?
Damn skippy. Not that I think anyone in a position of authority is going to do anything about it. Just look at The Cable Beach Post Office, also known as Sandals Staff Parking.
Lithium batteries are perfectly safe, or as safe as 20 gallons of gasoline. The one caveat to that statement is if you buy a knockoff Chinese electric car with no safety standards, like the ones being sold here.
I'm sure Atlantis would have absolutely zero issue with Wendy's going in to Marina Village, where they not only get paid a pile of money in rent, but take a percent of your sales. They only have a problem with this because guests will be spending money off property, and they don't get their cut.
Can someone please explain to me how duty isn't just straight up theft/extortion?
I buy a thing for $100.
$5 of that cost is designing it.
$20 is raw materials
$20 is manufacturing
$10 to ship it from China to the US
$5 to market the product
$10 to ship it from the port to the store
$5 cost to warehouse it before sale
$5 US sales tax.
That leaves the reseller making $25. We then bring the item from the US to The Bahamas, and the government somehow thinks they deserve twice as big a cut of the profits as anyone. They did not design, manufacture, warehouse, market, sell, support, warranty, or transport the product, but somehow deserve the lion's share of the price tag?

Agreed 100%.
BUT, is the church and state really separate here, or are we aligned with such other progressive countries as Iran and Afghanistan?
