You are allowed to disagree but Junkanoo itself has been evolving and embracing the culture of Trinidad Carnival for more than 20 years. Object all you like you are fighting a losing battle. All cultures have been influenced by other cultures since the dawn of culture itself. This tiny country with its tiny Junaknoo festival will not be the exception. You are powerless to stop this. The food you eat, the music you make, the way you speak have already been influenced by other cultures...or maybe you did not realize.

If another country will not spend 9 million on Junkanoo it is because they feel it would not be profitable. It is a great festival but it is not profitable HERE! Embracing another culture does not mean we lose our identity it means we evolve. Cultures of the entire world have evolved why should the Bahamas be any different. We need this cultural evolution more than most. It is ineveitable so get over it open your mond and embrace the change. There will soon be a new defination of 'Bahamian Culture'.

What Good Christian country this is... There are no words to describe this lack of humanity. This is a national disgrace and I for one am ashamed of my country. Yes illegals must be deported, this is not unique to the Bahamas but all Children everywhere must be protected at all costs regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion. There is no excuse for this. And the hatred expressed above by some of the readers is nothing short or evil. This is a national shame. Maybe a boycott is in order.

Obviously none of you know anything about Voodoo. Do you have any idea how many millions of people all over the Americas practice this religion. This is not a Haitian religion. This is a religion of the Americas. It is practiced throughout the region including huge countries like the US. It is very big in Brazil, Cuba, DR, Puerto Rico. Why don't you research it online. Because of your deliberate ignorance you think it is something to fear. More people have been hurt, killed, tourtured, persecuted, exiled, because of Christianity then other other religion in history. I never heard of any wars started because of Voodoo. In Mexico I was shocked to see this type of gruesome photo on the front page of major news papers (in colour).
