Let’s protect the local mask manufacturing industry that never existed prior to last week (sarcasm).
Why must we prohibit local importers / wholesalers / retailers from supplying the product they have access to, in order to protect an ‘industry’ that formed days ago, and will be gone in a few months.
Can our local ‘mask industry’ supply 300k+ masks to an entire nation (that is now required to wear masks in public) suffering a 24hr curfew?
You may be correct. However, the permission to operate an ecommerce platform should be extended to the entire sector or industry, and those who have the tech in place will be able to function. Permissions shouldn't be granted to a single entity. In the case of Sands- 700 Wines has a beautifully developed online shopping platform & delivery service, if anything I'd think they would have been pushing for similar approvals.
Agreed- but, did they really catch up? This entire article paints a picture of irony. The Gov't is recognizing the importance of ecommerce, and has gone as far as to draft a national policy, yet won't allow already capable retailers to operate their technology. It's very discouraging.
