These amendments are an attempt to strengthen the oversight on the maritime sector. There was a boat explosion in the Exuma Cays. Some persons spoke about that situation. Bahamian parliaments are very slow in modernizing laws.

These laws were drafted after the boat explosion in Exuma. A person was killed and several persons injured. I remember that incident well. Also there was a collision between two boats in Harbour Island, three young persons ere killed.

Both the training and enforcement of maritime laws in this country needs to be improved. That was the opinion of a white Bahamian who have years of experience in the maritime field. He said that after various activities on the waters around New Providence and in the family islands.

The Bahamas should benefit in some visible way from these travels.Increased investments. more technical cooperations and developments should be the results. However nothing seems to materialize from these trips.

@Regardless. Heineken always was the majority shareholder in Commonwealth Brewery. They also funded the connected persons who brought Burns House. They basically helped to create a near monopoly in the sale of certain alcoholic beverages.

Humiliating, embarassing and berating is not rehabilitation. The Bahamas needs trained psychologists to work in this field. Also there is a huge need here for trained sociologists. They need to research the roots of this anger and frustration that is widespread in this country. That is major contributor to the anti social behaviour in this country.

A very expensive elevator. That amount of expenditure makes no sense

My condolences to his family on t his passing. Bahamian journalists outside of maybe Sir Etienne Dupuch are not writers,There are so many untold stories about the development of the Bahamas. Many young Bahamians are unaware of the fact that at one time, quite a number of police men were recruited from the English West Indies. The late Sir Lynden Pindling' s father came to the Bahamas from Jamaica to be a police man here.

The island of New Providence needs a proper public transportation system. That seems beyond the ability of our public officials to deliver. In their many travels cris crossing the globe, I know they saw examples of them. The Bahamas is so hopelessly behind in so many areas.Public transport is one of them. A relative of mine who visited Bermuda for a seminar spoke about their bus system. He said it was a proper system.

This is how this country operates. So backward .Reinventing the wheel. There was a report done under the previous FNM administration. There was a report done about the introduction of local government on the island of New Providence. That report could have been used as a template to strengthen local government.

The PLP simply ignored that report. The FNM made no attempt to implement that report. It's recommendations give too much power to the local government officials, The power brokers in both the PLP and the FNM oppose real local government. The Bahamas is way behind in this regard. Canada has a highly developed system of local goverment. The city of Toronto had municipal government for over one hundred and sixty years before local government was introduced here in the Bahamas in 1997.

The financial backers behind the Arawak Cay port and the cruise port will make a tender to manage Potter's Cay. It is an eyesore right across the water from Paradise Island. It is the main port for the domestic shipping, the mail boats, Properly managed, Potter's Cay could make a lot of money. Mike Maura, CEO of the cruise port basically said that in an interview with the Nassau Guardian a few years ago.
