Hurricane Matthew which side swipe New Providence in 2016 should have been a wake up call.It took BPL eleven days to restore electricity to my house People living on this island have short memories and choose to be blissfully ignorant. The Bahamas needs to evolve to a federal country on the basis of like Canada.Allow each island group to be self-governing with a high level of autonomy. But there will be strong opposition to this by political class, business community and average bahamian on the island of New Providence.

You don't know what you are talking about. The system is not not working how it was intended. You are just an idiot.Johnson is also incompetent.A big time FNM supporter told me that bluntly about him.

This joker giving this interview is the same person who disbanded the revenue enhancement unit..Every thing he says, you take with a grain of salt. As talkative as he is,he still won't answer those questions about the vat hike asked by a former senior FNM cabinet minister.

The Bahamas mentioned in this report must be in an alternative universe,

Mr.Strachan's rank on the police force is that of ACP and not ASP.He is an assistant commissioner of police and not an assistant superintendent. You don't know much do you? The Bahamas runs on the Westminister system of government.Top civil servants are not replaced when the government changes. As for the american system, a presidents appoints and the senate confirms political appointees to top civil service positions. That system is above most bahamians' heads. That is why a bahamian like you or me won't know what to do when like John Kennedy a democrat, could appoint a republican to his cabinet.

This government is in this bind because of their own choices. The hike in the vat rate has lead to increase inflation. The cost of living has gone up.This affects the poor and people with fixed incomes the most. They are reacting to the cries from the ground.Their allies and supporters in the business community mainly oppose an increase in the minimum wage. They are caught between these two groups. They were warned by experts this may happen.

BONEFISH says...

The government is trying to play slick with this minimum wage increase. They could have gone to parliament and pass a law raising the minimum wage. They have the numbers in the parliament to do this.Instead they announce an increase in the minimum wage for public sectors workers..They hope to use this and moral persuasion to force the private sector to do the same.Among their supporters in the private sector, there is concern These things don't happen in a vacuum.Certain business persons are really concerned..

BONEFISH says...

Poor fiscal policies by this FNM government has caused the cost of living to increase so dramatically. Three former cabinet ministers in the Ingraham cabinet basically said so.Also a journalist linked to former cabinet minister in the Ingraham goverment basically predicted this may happen. They have created on their own accord ,some fiscal and monetary problems, Some of these problems, they may not be able to solve. Economics is a very complex subject. It is not as simple as Turnquest and Johnson believe.
