The Bahamas is a third world country. It is firmly in the third world.I was taught that by a person who is now a big time consultant to the present FNM government.
Phillip Davis can't speak on this.He did not bite his tongue. He still has not given an explanation about the contractor's insurance on the Bamsi fire.Go away ,just go Brave.
The problems with the electricity supply on the island of New Providence has persisted from the days of Sir Lynden Pindling. We are right next door to one of the best utility company in the US, which is FPL.Did not any one have the sense to reach out to them for advice and their expertise?I have lost fans, freezer and refrigerator to power surges. It is just crazy.I am so frustrated now.
Sky Bahamas's financial problems go far back. They go back before the runway paving. They are now done to basically one plane. He just using that runway repaving as an excuse. The Tribune's business editor and reporters won't even try to find out the true story behind Sky Bahamas.
What the Bahamas needs is a real system of local government. It will allow people to learn how governance works at the local level before they venture on to the national stage. The late Vince Ferguson who taught me at a seminar was a big advocate of that.He told me many of the better american presidents stated out at the local level.Example Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.A former PLP candidate said a Trinidadian cabinet minister told him,he was a local government councillor for about twenty years before he got a nomination to run in the national elections.Politics take time, effort and hard work.Bahamians should ask people like Tony Blair,Gordon Brown ans David Cameron in the UK.They did not wake up one morning ,simply got a nomination and was made a chairman, parliamentary secretary or cabinet minister.
What goes around, comes around. FNM operatives have been using social media for some time to attack and smear people reputations. Now PLP operatives are doing the same thing. He did not speak on these things then.Politics in this country is getting nastier. Dr.Sands himself said politics in the Bahamas is a blood sport.
An us and them mentality has developed here on the island of New Providence.Quite a few persons are living in bubbles. Also many persons have simply become numb and desensitized to the violence on this island.
The minister should apologize. What he said in his budget speech was not true.He simply never bothered to read and find that transaction unfolded. He sholuld apologize to the owners of Western Air who are well -known supporters of the FNM.
