Despite their crime and economic challenges, Jamaica has surpassed the Bahamas in a number of areas. While Bahamians stood still, they have moved ahead. Ask them about their 2 million stopover visitors per year, while the Bahamas is stuck at 1.4 million.Ask them how they are building and expanding their room inventory, while hotels are closed in this country for thirteen years in GB, the Royal Oasis, Ask them how reduce their electricity rate from 40 cent to 20 cent per kilowatt hour. I really want to know that.Let them show you their solar and wind farms
As Baha Mar struggles to increase it's occupancy rates, other countries in the Caribbean are expanding their hotel rooms. Cuba, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic are all experiencing ggrowth in their stop-over arrivals. Every other country in the Caribbean is now in tourism. The Bahamas is no longer the only game in town.
Please Mr.Turnquest , if you have any evidence of criminal wrong doing, turn the evidence over to the police.Let them investigate the matter and present the findings to the attorney general. The attorney general will decide whether to prosecute the individuals.Let these people have their day in court We need to get on with the governance of this country. The election is over. By the way since you seem to be a novice in these matters, let some veteran politicians tell you the various schemes that have been done to win elections in this country.
The FNM needs to have a plan to deal with the deficit. They should have upon assuming office
1. Required all permanent secretaries and department heads submit plans to reduce expenditure by 20% across the board. 2. The National Training Agency should be discontinued. 3. Urban Renewal should be discontinued. 4. Junkanoo Carnival should be discontinued. 5. Subsidies to all government corporation should have been reduced by 25%. 6. All outstanding monies owed to the government ,and it's corporations should be collected. 7. Reduction in staff of the civil service by computerization of processes. 8. No more issuing of padded contracts. 9. Strict adherence to proper purchasing and procurement processes. However I will venture to say the FNM won't do these things. They will just continue to talk
I am disappointed in the Minister of State for Legal Affairs. A few months ago. he was opposed to the PLP's version of this bill. The current version of this bill he tabled in parliament is worse than theirs.
