As the day follows the night, the day that income tax is suggested for the Bahamas Government hto implement has arrived. I was told by several persons in the know this will happen. We collectively brought this on ourselves. Don't blame the IMF. Years of economic mismanagement by successive governments, a stagnant and outdated economic model and irresponsible populace. It is going to be rough.Add to that an inexperienced Financial Secretary and a Finance Minister who seems out of place.

Mr.Wilson was a very competent civil servant. He and the previous FS John Rolle did a good job in establishing the department of inland revenue. He is a casualty of our politics and cronyism. The new FS has not worked in the Ministry of Finance in years, doe not have the technical background and was not a senior official when he left.It like a person who does not practice surgery in years and is brought back as head of surgery at PMH. But this is how the Bahamas roll.

Mr.Wilson was a very competent civil servant. He and the previous FS John Rolle did a good job in attempting to modernize and develop the inland revenue department. He is a casualty of the political wars and cronyism. You have a new FS who has worked in the Ministry of Finance in years and was not a senior official when he left. It is equal to a person who does not perform surgery for years and then is made head of surgery at PMH. But all I can say this is how the Bahamas roll.Like some one I respect commented, this decision makes no sense.
