Precisely...BEC and fuel as well...when VAT was being discussed, it was laid out that companies could collect input credits from BEC and fuel bills, etc, you'd get the 7.5% back on those outlays as inputs to net out against what you collect in the sales side. So now they are not going to show you the 7.5% and water down what you can collect in credits to neutralize your outlay back to the government...well guess what...prices just increased a couple more percentage points for each of these last ditch effort rule changes to try to save face in the consumers eyes. Lower your price to 'absorb it' but still show the full 7.5% so people can do the accounting properly.
Yes...missed my point...the fact that the generally population, which is general under-educated and can't see much past their noses will see the fact that the government is giving them 5% on food as a job well done...they will not see until they REALLY have no money left, that they got no assistance for the added %ages on everything else, rent, light bills, phone bills, etc. They will just see that 5% boost in food allowance and jump up and down in glee as if all their problems have been solved because of the government doing the right thing by them. Now...don't get me wrong, 5% is better than nothing, but it's a small portion of the overall major increase across the board.
Yeap...unfortunately with our dumbed down masses they will see this 5% and jump up and down with glee and think that the government is watching out for them and they straight!!
Not to worry, because BahMar will be coming online and miraculously our employment figures will be up, all as a DIRECT result of initiatives the government has put in place...bull crap...We need to NOT include the BahMar employment boost in the next year or two of analysis...makes the employment situation look far rosier than it actually is.
There must be way more to this story than they lead on to...if it was 100% some FNM transgression the PLP would flip that, expose it and make so much noise about it your head would spin. Not saing it is right by any means...I'd LOVE for it to be exposed, whoever it is. Unacceptable no way you slice it...unless you are a politician and can turn a blind eye to things so easily.
Customs and Freeport are always pissing each other off. Stupid thing is this re-affirms peoples positions that the custom department up there are power tripping idiots.
