Couldn't agree with you more...as a parent of small children at the moment, I pray I will be able to do the right thing and keep them 'in check' so to speak and with enough respect and love, to trust they would not go down this path which ultimately led to this girls demise. I'd like to safely say that no way no how, if I bring my children up right, would they be hanging out at bars until 3am when they are 15 years old. 100% hold the parents and caregivers of this girl just as much responsible as the person who actually pulled the trigger. In the end though, he is the one who pulled the trigger...a couple times apparently. I don't think we will ever hear the story of what was said or transpired in that bar before she walked out, but from the reports, he followed her outside of the bar where he proceeded to shoot her. Ya just don't do that!! Something is not right in that persons mind. Now...sadly...it's a bar atmosphere, most likely alcohol was involved...defense can now go down the path that he was intoxicated and not responsible for his actions in the diminished capacity. He will probably get charged with manslaughter or some lesser charge that first degree murder, and yes, will sit in our jails until he dies...won't qualify for the death penalty.
Agree with you on that point as well...as much as we would like to think our kids are well behaved angels, no matter how hard you try to protect them if they are mischievous enough, they will find a way to get around you. Sounds like this gal was a bit of a trouble maker anyways. Interesting...a 77 year old father of a 15 year old...wonder what was going on there...but that's another discussion...either way, if you are parenting properly and mindful of your kids, you should know what they are up to past midnight...heck...past 10:00 and I'd be asking a whole bunch of question of who what where or why!!
Sadly, there are no controls at any of these nightclubs when it pertains to age checks...pretty much if you are tall enough to see over the bar, you'll get served. Particularly when it comes to the ladies...the 'bouncers' will always be lenient with the ladies!!

Doesn't take much in the harbour there...especially under the concrete piers when the tide is flowing, you are pretty much helpless at full flow.
