Most idiotic statement ever by BA. I would LOVE for an independent analysis to be done by a non-government organization. I think people will be shocked and the government will be caught out in a bold face lie about the hazards of this fire. I sure hope so TOV...I would LOVE to see Freeport and GB take a MUCH bigger role in how the overall Bahamian economy is structured, get people out of Nassau!! It has everything going for it as stated above, just lack of drive and followthrough by the higher ups and things fizzle. Push for indusry and other favourable enterprises to be housed in Freeport.

So sad...Grand Bahama with it's size and infrastructure and it proximity to the US should be the booming capital of the Bahamas...shipping to and from the US is cheaper, flights shorter, land mass greater, more space to move about and expand...but instead that poor island is a decaying dump and 90%+ of the population of this country cram themselves onto Nassau like sardines in a can.

From what I understand, unless you have been issued a summons to appear before the court, or issued a ticket on the spot for a traffic violation, unless they serve you with a summons within 6 months, that ticket is null and void...she got arrested for 2005?? Maybe she did have a proper summons and/or ticket...in which case, yeah, she broke the law in that case, but if the cop at the end of the traffic stops tells you they will have a summons served, and you don't get anything in 6 months...that ticket is dead.

Nope...an awful lot of people are doing the most basics of accounting just to get the essentials done and not get robbed blind by someone fudging the books...even people with the more sophisticated systems in place, are clueless at the moment as to how to advise their software developers to start preparing their systems for VAT because the government hasn't given us anything. Ask someone on the VAT board, if they have any forms, or any set ups in place for the 'automated' payments...one thing to bear in mind, when they sign VAT into law, the government has open access to your bank account. The amount THEY feel is the right amount to be paid by VAT will be automatically deducted from your bank account payable to the government. All your books and accounting, will now be open for the government to pick through and criticize. It's going to be a whole new ballgame out there, many businesses will close, and the common man unless he eats nothing but the bread basket items the government are going to dangle in front of your noses, will be paying a lot more for his food, housing, and utilities.

Just using simple math...that's some serious inflation, even for a boat builder...2 years ago, 120 Mil for 11 boats...so 10.9 Mil average...2 years later, 149 Mil for 9 boats...16.5 Mil average per boat...DAMN!! I'm in the wrong business!! Over a 50% increase in cost over 2 years.

You saying she shouldn't be poking her nose in it? I'm very curious as to why we are now having to pay more for less...29 Million MORE...plus we get 2 less boats. Must be our highly selective bargaining teams...they will find a way to 'spend' that extra 8 million for reserve costs...don't worry about that either!! Someone has a house that needs some work...or a new house they want built somewhere...
