I'm all for cleaner vehicles and less pollution, but it's the same old thing...they can't even do the routine inspection properly, cars driving around with busted headlights, no mirrors, body parts falling off, shattered windows, bald belt showin' tires...and they are going to try and enforce an emissions check. Again...those with buddies in the right places gonna slip home boy a tenner or something and get a free sticker. That's just how wee Bahamas roll...always a way around the rules if you know the right person!
Well said and to the point. There will be smaller businesses out there that are on that threshold of who qualifies for VAT and who doesn't that simply do not have the technology in place to deal with this. Heck, even the established businesses with full blown accounting systems are going to be hard pressed to make the adjustments necessary in the time frame they have given us. We have software programmers that we need to consult and modifications to our systems that need to be done and tested, we have not seen the first shred of paperwork on how the reporting is going to be handled...what reports need to be generated, how those reports are going to be handed in...or transmitted electronically, how exactly the interface on the banking side will take place...all this takes TIME and they have not giving us the first piece of hard requirements to work from. I can guarantee that there are companies out there that have a gross income over the required threshold that have NO systems in place to handle this...how are they going to be held accountable and how is this going to work...is the government going to force them into buying all sorts of expensive software to make it work? Far too complicated and almost impossible to fully enforce and monitor.
Education and moral decay in this country are the reason why we are where we are today. The concept of keeping the populace stupid and ignorant, makes the politicians jobs easier to sway the masses into their favour. The people do not have the tools to know right from wrong, to think for themselves, to understand the bigger picture so to speak, all they will hear is the chatter of a mouth up on a stage promising them this and that...and giving them free food and drink and parties. Terrible system of governance and campaigning. Education MUST be a priority...top notch education...not just the baby sitting service we have going on at most government school these days granting kids 'leaving certificates' that can't even read or write properly.
I think someone brought this up before...are they going after any of the countries that literally sold their own into slavery? For sure there were people on the ground in the various countries that the slaves originated from that were responsible for the capture and sale into the slave trade to start the journey across the Atlantic...or are they just going to overlook that layer of the trade and focus on the countries that received the slaves and subsequently used and abused them. Just curious.
Apparently...I guess I made the mistake of getting a good education, being honest and forthright, and paying my dang property taxes...along with all the other bills like an idiotic responsible citizen...guess I should have just got my D average at a government school and just ignore paying a thing and dodging at every turn...silly me...what was I thinking. Trust me...ain't gonna pay property tax until they hunt me down and shoot me!!
These are also the same people 'failing' to collect over half of our duty revenues and forcing us down the path of VAT. Start doing your job properly and efficiently...then we'll talk!!
The sad thing is that your roster of MP's out there are all pretty well off and are more than capable than your average Joe of paying their taxes...they just 'elect' not to...well hey...I'm taking my own vote and electing not to pay any more of my taxes.
Disgraceful...but hey...it's our culture...those special few who know someone who know someone will just get a free pass and burn the honest individuals out their paying their dues.
Screw it...me and my taxes payments are going on strike.
