Still shaking my head at the fact he donated $1,000 but asked other parliamentarians to donate $3,000...and at a time when company and corporations are downsizing...he's doing the exact thing they've always done...find someone a job at one of the government utilities/vote bribing centres. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that people are getting help, but quit using the government entities to provide every 'needy person' you need a vote from a job. Why didn't you get her a job at say Mario's Bowling, where you will foot the bill for the deadweight extra labour...since you were the J.A. who put your foot in your mouth.

Bahamians first...it's da PLP way...well...so long as the Bahamian politicians gettin' dey money in dey pocket...dat's Bahamians first aye!! Forget the fact that you have a conglomerate of 4 separate waste professionals...locally...that have been fighting and fighting with government to take on recycle and reuse initiatives for YEARS!! Government would never listen...but hey...when some big foreign money comes along, and they can swing some money deal on the side to line their pockets...BOOM...a solution is made. Disgraceful.

Pretty sad...the courts are already backlogged, and you are now going to throw the court system back into the dark ages for an uncertain amount of time...you know those audio recorders WON'T be going live in September...maybe 2016...so you slow down the wheels of justice by making the magistrate 'take notes'...and you also jeopardize an appeal as you don't have a full transcript to work from...just what the magistrate thought was worthy of jotting down, with varying degrees of accuracy. Wonder how many cases right now are being pushed through on those merits, that you can get a much easier appeal and over-turned ruling.

I'm all for cleaner vehicles and less pollution, but it's the same old thing...they can't even do the routine inspection properly, cars driving around with busted headlights, no mirrors, body parts falling off, shattered windows, bald belt showin' tires...and they are going to try and enforce an emissions check. Again...those with buddies in the right places gonna slip home boy a tenner or something and get a free sticker. That's just how wee Bahamas roll...always a way around the rules if you know the right person!

Good way to trim down the population...let it burn...burn down half the island...solve a lot of problems!! Kidding of course!!...but I digress.....

Well said and to the point. There will be smaller businesses out there that are on that threshold of who qualifies for VAT and who doesn't that simply do not have the technology in place to deal with this. Heck, even the established businesses with full blown accounting systems are going to be hard pressed to make the adjustments necessary in the time frame they have given us. We have software programmers that we need to consult and modifications to our systems that need to be done and tested, we have not seen the first shred of paperwork on how the reporting is going to be handled...what reports need to be generated, how those reports are going to be handed in...or transmitted electronically, how exactly the interface on the banking side will take place...all this takes TIME and they have not giving us the first piece of hard requirements to work from. I can guarantee that there are companies out there that have a gross income over the required threshold that have NO systems in place to handle this...how are they going to be held accountable and how is this going to work...is the government going to force them into buying all sorts of expensive software to make it work? Far too complicated and almost impossible to fully enforce and monitor.
