Nice to finally see some of the legislation before they force it down our throats...still amazes me that they were willing to roll this whole thing out without even having the legislation out in the public arena. They must KNOW it's going to be crap and people are going to balk at it.
I have a friend who was qualified to bid for another building contract, they flat out refused to let him tender a bid. When the matter was pressed by higher ups, they finally accepted his bid. I guess his bid was too good or competitive, because all of a sudden the bid terms changed and before he had a chance to revise his bid to match the new terms, they quickly awarded the contract to PLP croony. Very sad.
That's OK...we already have an unregulated spy agency that is able to do whatever they damn well please at the moment. This government likes putting the ball in motion before anything is even written in the books...allow people to build before they have all the permits in place...allow VAT to come online without all the necessary documentation and clarity for the people to know how to deal with it...let the spy agency form, become operational and do whatever they want without even having legislation in place...now NHI is about to be enacted and no one has had a chance to even thoroughly vet that legislation either. Get the laws on the books FIRST...then build the infrastructure and such around those laws within a certain time frame.
10 Million dollar fine is mere pennies in the oil game if it is a good producing oil well. make the 10 million dollars the minimum fine and amp it up from there. No ifs ands or butts...you leak any oil...WHAP...10 million dollars OR MORE...work up a scale of percentages based on volume of oil leaked. Say 10 million base...with a 10% increase for say every 100 gallons leaked...something like that.
I've said it before and will say it again...if NHI is coming into effect I think it should be made mandatory across the board that any government employment agreement has the concept of private health insurance expunged and the government worker goes onto NHI...all the way up to the PM's office. If I am going to be faced to pay for the NHI initiative, I don't see why I have to pay higher utility bills and such to supplement private insurance, when I'm already paying your NHI.
