Can almost give you a 100% guarantee that there were more than the '5 reported cases', so much of the crime our tourists face never make the news. I have heard numerous stories of friends and friends of friends telling stories about how their hotel room was broken into and things were stolen. Hotel security and management 'deal with it' but the crime never gets out into the public arena.
I saw 149 before I signed off for the night on New Year's...did we break 150 for the year? My prediction is for 2016 that the government will have no direct impact on crime and the murder rate will be closer to 200.
They brought laws in that matter to THEM...more taxes and political favours by legalizing the numbers racket. So let's encourage Bahamians to gamble and lose the little money they are earning, and if they don't lose it in the gambling houses, they are going to lose it to the damn tax man. Well done governance.
When you have something that is mission critical, you have fail safes and back ups. But hey, this is government run now, chances are all the backups and failsafes had already failed and no one bothered to fix or maintain anything, which is the way this government works...don't address anything until it is completely broken down and beyond repair.
