Get ready for higher food costs and other expenses...snowball knock on effect of VAT, the already cash strapped lower wage people could not pay the bills post VAT, so government slams through a wage increase. Well...cost of business just went up, so will cost of what you are selling to compensate. Hey...in the governments eyes, if they can drive the retail price up, that is an increase in VAT income. If an item costs $10 you get 75 cents of VAT...if you force the retailer to up that price to $12 you are now getting 90 cents of VAT income...win win in their narrow minded eyes!!
