With all due respect to Ragged Islanders, not too sure re-building makes such sense, particularly as most of the Natives from there had long since left even prior to the Storm, so I reckon there is little chance, if any, of them returning now.
Until you have Tida Wave, Lady Muriel, Red Stripe and Rufff Justice in the Race, this is not "The Best of the Best", indeed Running Tide is the only Boat who can even compete with this Elite Class, who together comprise the Top 5 Boats in "Class A" today.
Why "attempt" to re-write and in the process offend our History, as not much friendship, much less mutual respect was shown on 10th May, 1980 with the sinking of HMBS Flamingo.
The "simple" Solution to Refugees, Poaching and Smuggling has always been to move the RBDF in its entirety to Inaqua and create a Survelliance Wall between Cuba and TCI, as all things bad come from the South, but as I noted at the beginning, this would be the "simple" Solution, first got to determine who of the "Insiders" are going be "granted" the land to flip to the Government for the Port, get the Construction Work, operate the Hardware and Food Stores, Restauants and Bars, together with Other Businesses that will flourish as a result, as the "Insiders" would not be able to accept their fellow native Bahamians from Inaqua "simply" benefiting from this mini economic boom.
Embarrassing ... and to think they should have been intercepted in Inaqua hundreds of miles away. We would do well to stop wasting money on the RBDF and simply hand over responsibility to the US Coast Guard, which they would not only welcome, but we would get efficient service for free.
When nothing happens we complain, when something happens we complain, we are truly a Funny People ... Bottomline is one can not complain about Crime on the one hand and then refuse to create Jobs on the other, as both are directly connected, and last time I checked, GB is in dire straights and in need of virtually "any" Investment, so we need to be grateful that Someone has seen fit to invest in such a depressed location and simply try to ensure that Enviromental Best Practices are adhered to, end of Stroy, as opposed to objecting, complaining and outright insulting the Investor so that he goes elsewhere, as he certainly has options available to him, and then what? ... Oh yeah, go back to complaining about nothing happening ... Get real Bahamas!
Cayman is far more cleaner, organized and in turn, civilized, so only fitting that their Civil Service should be appropriately rewarded for doing a good job.
