This is certainly a beautiful part of The Bahamas worthy of saving, but we must strike a balance between the Enviroment and Development, which includes not allowing Disney to go to another Country, as the economic benefits are simply too great, not to mention international exposure, bearing in mind first and foremost we have an ever increasing population that require jobs in order to put food on the table for their Families, otherwise they will have little choice but to resort to financial crime out of desperation, a basic fact that very few of the EPEs (Environmentally Privilged Elite) have ever had to consider, but a very “real” unfortunate consideration for most Bahamians every day.

Just another example of why “most” respected Businessmen, Bankers, Trust Officers, Accountants and Lawyers choose to have no association with the Chamber, BFSB or Bar Association because they know full well those that have infested these Groupings are merely using the same to establish and exploit credibility they do not otherwise possess to continue unethical business.

John is hitting at the “real” issue with Freeport, always has been, as the GBPA Owners have made a fortune over the years ... and continue to do so, even now as Grand Bahamians suffer. Every Investor arriving on the Island has been “shaken down” to ether Partner or risk having their business idea stolen, resulting in such Investors, assuming they still go ahead, quickly losing enthusiuasim in such unprofitable business models and the remainder simply preferring to invest elsewhere right off the bat, irrespective of all the geographic advantages Freeport possesses.

What “pipe”, that was a Swivel Cannon that was pulled out of the Sea and transported away ... along the other Artifacts?!? Just watch the Episode ... and this is the 1st Episode of a Multi-Episode Series that has already completed filming ... bit late to address now ... plus, imagine what was not filmed!

I thought acting on a contingency basis was not allowed in The Bahamas?

Baha10 says...

Unfortunately, such drastic action is a consequence of 43+ years of fiscal mismanagement ... I actually applaud the current Administration for at least having the guts to try and address the situation, as no Politician voluntarily increases Taxes, unless absolutely necessary for Country survival, which is precsiely what is happening here, putting Country first before Politcal survival.

The hypocracy is the Author the other day was heralding her seamanship skills as an avid Sailor, which “if” true, She knows full well that the World’s “largest” Oil Tankers currently pass back and forth unimpeaded through the NE/W and Crooked Island Passages 24/7/365 without incident, so why she would engage in such hyperbole simply means She has absolutely no credibility ... and to think She was in the PR Business!

Just read the “public” document ...

From what I can gather, neither of these Comments are accurate in that there is no Beachfront Land being Granted, merely Inland Scrub being Leased for Tanks, not purchased, and no Employees (Foreign or Bahamian) are getting "any" Exemptions, merely the opportunity to lease or purchase Staff Housing at Preferential Rates. Why would this be bad for us?

Every now and again, I force myself to read what this self proclaimed literary genius has penned and am consistently amazed that such rambling and lengthy drivel has been afforded news print. However, as a Seaman, I am even more shocked that a “supposed” Sailor would see fit to reward and praise what can only be incompetence or outright negligence on a job that by definition requires expertise as a matter of life and death and worse, take offense to our Prime Minister chastising such incompetence. With all the modern technology and tidal information available to a Captain of a sophisticated and modern military Vessel today, it is inexcusable to “run aground”. The fact that we are forced to bear the cost of such incompetence and/or negligence requires the strongest reprimand, as this epitomizes what is wrong with this Country where you can get away with virtually anything without consequence.
