I agree the Government is rapidly squandering the most political capital ever vested in an Administration and the backlash is coming, unless they start actually doing something positive, as it is all well and good to confirm the reasons why the people voted for you, but that is all you are doing, substantiating why the people voted for you in the first place, and in the process, boxing one's self into a corner, whereby one has to follow through with prosecuting the "allegations", as if there is neither major positive news nor no one is in jail in short order, the backlash is going to be extreme and unforgiving.

The answer BahamaPundit is simple, you are looking at "oppressed" people who the Bay Street Boys fired for "tifing", were not always selected by their majority rule PM post Independence for "kick backs", the Colombian Drug Lords declined their "safekeeping" services, the Foreign Investor said no to them when offering "connections", the Tourists refused to be "hustled" by them, leaving only the Haitians, who would not even weed their yards due to "non-payment", so these "most oppressed" people grew up longing for their turn to pillage with utter unapologetic abandonment!

As an Oxford Graduate, this "Consultant" should have no issue Accounting in Detail by way of Verifiable Work Product for this $1mil. per year Contract, nor for that matter, any issue with publishing it in The Tribune for all and sundry to see, as after all, it was "the People's Money" from which he was paid and as a Patriotic Bahamian who claims to be of the highest integrity, he should welcome such opportunity to restore his much maligned reputation.

Publish the Names, 30 days to pay or commence Court Proceedings. This is critical, as if we have a "D" Average, these Culprits represent our more intelligent, who with all their higher intelligence are using it to avoid their obligations, which unless curbed will simply carry over into the work place and indeed, possible political life. Real problem is this is an ethical issue, which is hard to address in adulthood and is more of an upbringing issue, which means the Parents of these Kids were most likely crooked and have simply passed it on to their Children, hence dare I say why this Country has gone to hell in the past 43 years since Independence and the future is bleak.

This Story alone eptimomises why we are where we are 43 years post Independence by exposing nepotism, incompetence, ignorance, corruption, etc. ... now multiply a few thousand times! It is a wonder we are still floating ... or are we, as many will say we have already sunk, but either do not realize or worse, refuse out of lingering National Pride to admit!

Baha10 says...

We need to adopt Legislation as in the UK that would declare McKinney a "Disqualified Director", thereby preventing him from holding such a fiduciary position again, as clearly any Landlord who allows a Tenant to accumulate so much in unpaid Rent is completely and utterly incompetent ... and the "salt in the wound" is he wants a "Thank You"!

As for Pat Mortimer, I am sure she was up for Queen's Honors for her business acumen, as with Sir. Tiger, as these People are truly gifted at destroying extremly viable ventures whilst at the same time enriching themselves personally, at the expense of Shareholdes, Fiananciers, Investors, Suppliers and Other Ceditors ... just look at ABC Motors, Solomon's Mines, RND, Burn's House, City Markets, etc. ... all once profitable, but destroyed through a combination of incompetence and outright embezzling, causing much unnecessary unemployment in the process.

Baha10 says...

Set the Example for the future Doc and Name the Culprits, irrespective if dead or still alive, otherwise you have severely misled the Bahamians who voted for you. If not, you have either lied on the promise of action or you are too scared yourself to take action for fear of what Others may have on you, neither are good scenarios, so I suggest you start prosecuting before the "the People" turn on you. I am afraid, No Excuses will be accepted, as this is the single biggest issue that has stunted the growth of this Nation, not to mention its Reputation!

Cooper appears to be the sort of Bahamian we can build a Country behind, Black, White, Rich, Poor, so far, very impressive in his role as 1 of 4 in Opposition and soon deserving of being nominated Leader.
