Serious dilemna for any Governement when personal emotion is at odds with economic reality, made even more complicated by the most basic human right to determine one's own destiny, irrespective of conflict with the interests of the majority. True Test of Character and Judgment for any Politician.

However the Rating Agencies operate is irrelevant, as put simply, this is the way the World works today, which means the most basic advise is more apt than ever:

Do not spend more than you make and if you are still in the Red, cut back until you at least break even, and then apply any excess to paying off debt as quickly as possible. Borrowing is a vicious cycle, particularly if one ends up having to borrow more and more simply to pay interest on existing debt without reducing principal.

Not much more to it really!

Of course, to implement, one requires a dedicated, intelligent, hard working and honest populous, which begs the most obvious Question: Do such attributes still exist 44 years post Independence?!?

This is not a bad idea either, let foreign money develop and in turn, sustain these remote Islands, which we are no longer capable of looking after.

As hard as this will be for persons who grew up on these remote and mostly abandoned Islands today, turning them into National Parks is nonetheless worthy of consideration.

Wow, the obvious concern had to be that the Structure could not withstand a Cat 4 or 5 Hurricane, hence evacuating Hotel for Guest Safety reason, which begs the Questions: 1) Was the Hotel "designed" to withstand such winds? and, more importantly, 2) Was the Hotel "built" to withstand such winds? If the Answers are "Yes" to both, then Management acted irresponsibly and should be Fired, but if the Answers are "No" to either, the Management acted responsibly and should actually be Praised, albeit the implications for The Bahamas and this Property are far worse.

Time for "investigative" Journalism, as this was not a Decision made without substantial reasoning.

Ask Jeff Lloyd and any Long Islander who was schooled in the 1960s about Teachers such as Hugh Cottis ... these are the sort of Teachers required, who are remembered, revered and praised long after they are gone, but whose Students went on to hold all number of positions of importance, both public and provate, in our newly independent Country.

Very well articulated Summary of "how we got here" and the "real" Culprits responsible, who should be held accountable. Indeed, what they have done is far more damaging in many ways to the corruption investigations currently underway, particularly when one bears in mind such corruption to a large extent is a indirect consequence of their actions, to wit: nothing short of "Traitors", certainly not worthy of Queen's Honors, but rather more appropriately should have their Citizenships revoked for betraying and destroying a fledgling Country.

One must "painfully" accept, with such a Landslide Mandate to effect wholesale fundamental change, not very impressive so far. Addressing corruption is both necessary and laudable, but job creation through inward investment is far more impressive, as indeed without same, you are merely fostering the environment that created the need for corruption in the first place, as if everyone was doing well, there would be no need to "skim from the till". Regrettably, the opposite is occurring with reductions in the Public Sector's Work Force and Budgets, which again are both necessary and laudable, but the same must be off-set by "new" Private Sector jobs, otherwise you are making people even more desperate to survive in an environment which is already primed for corruption as a means of getting by.

You are actually the one missing the point, W&S payment occurred nearly 2 years prior and irrespective of "most favored status", which in itself should have been challenged or at least, "questioned", this BPL payment occurred "immediately" prior to a General Election, making the timing completely unacceptable and most likely fraudulent, yet signed off on by a complicit Board "without question" who are accordingly also accountable for such malfeasance. Hope you now get the point.

The point is Messrs. Beneby and Hermans did not resign and were thereby complicit in fraud, which begs the question as to how they run RBC and Family Guardian?!? Andrews is in a slightly different position, as Nassau Glass is his personal Comany, whereas Beneby and Hermans are responsible for making decisions concerning "other" peoples money, hence the "supposedly" enhanced fiduciary duties.
