We need to adopt Legislation as in the UK that would declare McKinney a "Disqualified Director", thereby preventing him from holding such a fiduciary position again, as clearly any Landlord who allows a Tenant to accumulate so much in unpaid Rent is completely and utterly incompetent ... and the "salt in the wound" is he wants a "Thank You"!
As for Pat Mortimer, I am sure she was up for Queen's Honors for her business acumen, as with Sir. Tiger, as these People are truly gifted at destroying extremly viable ventures whilst at the same time enriching themselves personally, at the expense of Shareholdes, Fiananciers, Investors, Suppliers and Other Ceditors ... just look at ABC Motors, Solomon's Mines, RND, Burn's House, City Markets, etc. ... all once profitable, but destroyed through a combination of incompetence and outright embezzling, causing much unnecessary unemployment in the process.
Set the Example for the future Doc and Name the Culprits, irrespective if dead or still alive, otherwise you have severely misled the Bahamians who voted for you. If not, you have either lied on the promise of action or you are too scared yourself to take action for fear of what Others may have on you, neither are good scenarios, so I suggest you start prosecuting before the "the People" turn on you. I am afraid, No Excuses will be accepted, as this is the single biggest issue that has stunted the growth of this Nation, not to mention its Reputation!
Cooper appears to be the sort of Bahamian we can build a Country behind, Black, White, Rich, Poor, so far, very impressive in his role as 1 of 4 in Opposition and soon deserving of being nominated Leader.
Porcupine should be made the Minister of Finance, effective immediately! No joke, as he/she has espoused more of a Plan to deal with our dire economic situation than anyone else to date.
Stand strong Bahamas! Why capitulate Bahamas? Be unique Bahamas? What Benefits did we see, much less actually get from going along with the First Rounds of compliance?!? absolutely nothing! Stop following the Pack and rolling over to the demands of those already Developed Countries that simply wish to take what "little" we have left, particularly as they have no intention of reciprocating themselves. We are an independent Nation sitting off the Coast of the most powerful Country in the World and as such have a lot more leverage than you think ... why do you think the Chinese are here ... for Sun, Sand and Sea! wake up bahamas!
With notable exceptions, most Bahamians are ill prepared for today's Business World in terms of education, skills, ambition and worst, business ethics. Whether you like it or not, this Country has suffered tremendously post Independence due to our Immigration Policy. Just look at Cayman today, which was built off our Immigration Policy, do you see any unemployed Caymanians? "No." Do you see a lot of ex-pats helping to build Cayman and provide employment? "Yes." From a 2 horse Town at the time of our Independence, to World Leader today in Offshore Services, whereas the proudest moment for our Nation was our recent General Election ... and now we hear instead of uplifting talk about how to develop, regrettably more archaic backward talk, which has got is in the current mess we re in. FYI - Foreign People are not evil, they can HELP us and besides, unless you are Lucayan, we are ALL Foreign, Yes, even those of African descent, just been here a "little" longer. Please grow up Bahamas! The People that are Smart and have Money are the ones we want, as they will build "our" Country, not the Immigrants that arrive illegally, who we seem quite happy to hand out Passports to because we can not be bothered to weed our yards any more and with a "Yes Daddy/Mummy"appear less threatening. Have you ever actually seen the way these passive people riot when they are no longer subservient ... by placing burning tyres over those they oppose ... "Yes Daddy/Mummy" ... never once seen an American, Canadian, English or European do something so barbaric yet, unless of course one reckons getting you out of bed to go to work ... and actually making one work to a certain standard is barbaric!
Agreed, no need for Referendum, simply repeal the Law, certainly got a Super Majority to do so! Indeed, could be the first piece of Business to get the Economy back on a normal footing.
Unless this Referendum happens NOW, it will be bound to fail, as all others have, as "The People" want the FOCUS to be on Crime, the Economy and Education (in that order), and "The People" will use "any" Referendum as a Report Card to grade performance, irrespective of topic! Surely "every" Politician gets this by now?!?
