Agreed. They need to ensure the premises are highly secured: patrol dogs and a small army of security or that place will be looted and stripped bare. All hell will break loose.
Well blow me down!!! This is the news we've all been waiting for and now it's finally here. It's been a long trip my fellow Bahamians. Now reality has appeared on our doorstep and all the reports concerning good news have been shown to be the lies they are. From the beginnong, I was concerned by the arrogance of this project -- the self pronounced largest resort in the Caribbean. In retrospect, the errors are very apparent. Most noteably, refusing to open in stages was a major misjudgment. How many times did we read in the press that the Bahamas tourism would not be able to sustain the room glut of two mega resorts. This is truly the Titanic part two. One of my concerns was that the project used the name Bahamar, a name so similar in spelling and pronounciation to Bahamas. Should the project fail, the name and it's failure could easily become tied to and associated with Bahamas. Every search for Bahamas on Google will forever retrieve mention of the failed Bahamar resort in search results.
I disagree. Why pay 21 million into Bahamar if it will still go bankrupt and pocket the change. There should definitely be some conditions that go along with payment of 21 mill, like Bahamar cannot terminate it's staff due to the delay. It's called leverage. Once funds are paid, all leverage dissapears.
Is it just me or do these hooligans spend our money like it's a game of Monopoly. Shame on us. Shame on us. Greece here we come! It's a surreal experience, actually. Watching people that should be working on farms throwing buckets and truck loads of your money over a cliff and into the sea. Join me and watch the beautiful sight. It's only money. Let's help them. Here, take this carosine and match and torch the hell out of that mountain of cash right there. Isn't this fun!
I upvoted you, but I don't agree completely. This Chinese construction firm is just very difficult to deal with and highly incompetent by the looks of things. I would never want to do business with them. Try calling a number on their website -- no response. Try emailing an address on their website -- out of order all of them. They are just not a company you want to be dealing with period. Even if Izzie hadn't shamed them publicly, they would have still, likely, mucked up the project. They should have never done business with them in the first place.
While I am sympathetic to the plight of the poor and lowely, this is a victory for The Bahamas. Why should we be importing Japan's trash to our beautiful shores. Think bigger Bahamians than the few bucks in your pocket! The Bahamas has no room for another country's garbage. Those old wrecks are junking up the place.
We want Digicel. Since they dropped out, we better scrap the whole thing. We want a cell company with real world experience and a track record of excellence, not some upstart crow that can't even get cable internet right. My internet is slow as molasses; I can't even stream hd video. What a mess.
I think we all thought allot of things about this project, which weren't grounded in reality. Seems like most of it was built on a wish and a prayer with little research, oversight or attention to detail.
I hope for the best, but WTF. How long is this place going to just sit around? Having seen the video of China's Empty Cities (thanks TalRussell), I'm beginning to understand the way China does construction. They build fast, cheap structures with little planning or care of the consequences if nobody chooses to live in them. It's as if they just build to build. Well, I hate to say it, but Bahamar looks just like the buildings in the China's Empty Cities video; it looks like it was just built to be built, with little aesthetic care or attention. Let's wait for a couple more months, but after a certain waiting period, the Government will have to intervene. I'm sorry to say it, but I would suggest it be knocked down and built differently. The land is just too valuable for a structure that is inferior. The sad part is, China has already moved on from this disaster. It is us that are living in the past by worrying about Bahamar. For China, Bahamar is just another empty city that didn't work out. Oh well.
@TheMadHatter I hate the PLP, but I hate the FNM more. At least the PLP never pretended to be righteous and a sunlight party. I'd like the DNA to win next round, but if it seems FNM have a chance in hell of winning, I'll vote PLP. On Christie's worst day he cannot infuriate me as much as Ingraham. The PLP gave us carnival! In my books, that alone is enough to merit re-ellection.
