Wow. That was fast. FNM already seems like a tired anti-change, status quo, borrowing addicted dinosaur. I can already see this is going to be a very long and dissapointinting five years. All words, no action. And most importantly zero balls!!!!
It's like hiring an ER surgeon because your guts are hanging out and he just pokes about and says man, you're in bad shape. Duhhhh. That's why I came to you. If you don't have the answers why did you put yourself up for ellection. A two year old can borrow 700 million. Any fool csn do that. Why are you here? Have you no skills?
The vibe I am getting from the FNM is turtle speed slowness. Exactly what I feared would happen. It seems they are on "go slow." They don't seem to have been ready to govern from day one. In fact, they seem lost. Unsure of who they are and what they are supposed to do. They are off to a terrible start in my opinion. Watching them is like watching grass grow. Unfortunately, The Bahamas needs speed to survive or it will sink into the mangroves and dissapear.
I agree. Most of these bills could be voided and xorrupt dealings. The rest could be voided for fraudy workmanship. Those sidewalks are terrible, crooked, slanted, rushed. We want to see the bills before a dime is paid out. It's our money! It's our time!
I don't think Bahamians realize what a dire financial situation our country is in. A good 3/4 of Bahamians think the Bahamas can always print money, no big deal. This was a lie from the PLP. Unfortunately, money does not grow on trees. When you are bankrupt, you must close non profitable businesses down period.
On a side note. If the FNM think they can sell public corporations FINE. But if they theink they can sell public corporations BEFORE bringing into force The Freedom of Information Act, they should think again!!!! Not passing the FOIA before such huge transactions would be a betrayal of everything they campaigned about: transparency and anti-corruption. They MUST bring into force the FOIA to prevent the perception of corrupt side deals, finders fees and conflict of interest.
BahamaPundit says... It is time to free Free Port!!! Remove all restrictions to US and Canadian persons and companies moving there for comercial purposes. No work permits required. No duty. No BIA approvals. The Government would still make a killing from stamp tax, VAT and company incorporation fees. If this is done, Free Port real estate would pop overnight. In ten years, it could become another NYC with skyscrapers etc. Nassau residents would flock there due to its booming economy and Nassau would become less over populated. The US government would start investing in The Bahamas again. Only sector reserved strictly for Bahamians should be the commercial fishing sector. We would still have the rest of The Bahamas all to ourselves. We have no choice. We are bankrupt! Time to be innovative. Time to put The Bahamas on the map again. It is time to free Free Port or die a slow death of financial stagnation and ruin.
