i am not negating the fact that HUMANS need protection from hate regardless of the reason. The difference is that as a homosexual person I can chose to flaunt my sexuality. I can be a homosexual male and chose to walk down the street in a skirt, weave, and a full face of makeup. I can go home at night and take those things off and still be male.

However I cannot go home and change the colour or my skin. I cannot wake up in the morning and make a conscious decision to either be black, white, or blue that day.

People were treated horrendously for no other reason that they tone of thier skin. No matter how they dressed, how they spoke, how educated they were or not. They were not allowed to attend schools and receive education, they were not allowed to use public restrooms or eat in restaurants.

Please ask Ms. Greene if in the Bahamas she was denied education, food, the ability to use the atm or restroom as she saw fit because of her sexual preference.

You cannot tell a person's sexual orientation based on the way they look, speak or act, unless they chose to let you know based on that. But you can tell my race based on the colour of my skin.

And that BahamianKing is why the two issues should never be muddled together.

I agree crimes of hate need to be eradicated but being homosexual is not a civil rights issue and making it one is a slap in the face to those who fought and died for civil rights issues.

Please do not equate civil rights issues with those of the LGBT community. One should not be compared to the other...sexual orientation is a choice. The colour of your skin isn't and I am sure those that fought for the freedom of slavery, those who were slaves, those who were hosed and bitten by dogs because they were black would not appreciate the comparison.

How do you know that an animal isn't licensed. There is no special sign a licensed dog wears. My dog is licensed and gets her shots and exam done yearly and the only thing she wears is a collar with her name and my home address and number on it. I bring my dog to the beach on a leash when I am home all the time. I bring a plastic bag in case she decides to use the bathroom, I also bring water, and snacks for her.

So because someone is frightened of my dog I am not allowed to have her out and let her enjoy being in the water and digging in the sand. That is just ignorant, if you are afraid of animals either say so before I settle with my dog and I will go elsewhere on the beach or if you met me there you go elsewhere.
People are always courting controversy...the beach is big enough that a few dogs will not create a riot. I guarantee that the few dogs that were there were probably people's pets and thus friendly. Most likely the dog wanted to play and the person misrepresented the situation and ran. I doubt a person who has a dog for guard purposes would bring that pet to the beach, it would be locked behind fences guarding what it was trained to do.

Yes a dog can do damage and in situations they have, but I have always been an advocate of animal rights and as a person who owns dogs I can speak and say a dog is a product of it's environment. Point is to say a dog doesn't need the human hand to be deadly is an inaccurate statement. The majority of attacks on humans by dogs were provoked attacks. Not saying there aren't unprovoked attacks but they weren't made by household pet dogs.

I am not sure that's really the issue at hand here...I don't think anyone really cares about the actual sexual acts being performed by homosexuals. I think it's more about whether they are being persecuted for their lifestyle.
For example a male wearing makeup and a female cutting her hair short and acting and dressing in a manner that a heterosexual male would.

Let's try and keep it more within the confines of the headline even though we all have strayed off a bit at some point.

I stand corrected, It is the police force that is being required to work 12hr shifts. However, the point I was attempting to make is that there are Bahamians out there who refuse to be regulated. The customs officers refuse to follow the new shift policy, the policemen are complaining about being made to work 12hr shifts.

Why if I was a contractor would I put myself in the position to have to deal with such behaviour? Whether it be from a Bahamian or a foreigner. I would just want to get the job done with the least amount of fuss and the most effective amount of work. And truthfully Bahamians are known for being big-mouth and hardheaded...again not saying all are like that. But one makes it bad for many.

I said it before and I say it again...Bahamians need to shake the sense of entitlement. It will always be the crippler of our nation.

Which is why they need to adopt a military approach to our police force and customs dept. Give these people their assignments and if you chose to not accept it or to assign yourself elsewhere then do what all other military forces do. Lock them up or discharge them from duty...because now you have disobeyed an official order.

Household waste or residental/domestic waste is defined as garbage that contains food scraps, clothing, packaging from home items, newspapers, and any other rubbish created from the day to day of a normal home. This is then broken down into a sub-section called hazardous household waste which includes items such as aerosol cans, cleaning solvents, pesticides, and other such harmful like substances.

If the landfill is operating as it should those items would be separated from the regular household waste. And the last time I checked burning food, newspapers, and clothing does not create toxic fumes. It creates CO2 which is naturally occurring in the environment and is actually beneficial to the continuing of the green cycle.

Again I ask you... please stop commenting on something you clearly have no knowledge about.

Most likely you probably don't have a degree, because if you did you would know exactly what getting one entails. Furthermore using your analogy if a doctor examined you and determined from his/her exam what your problem is most likely he/she wouldn't require any additional testing unless they were unsure as to the diagnosis. Maybe you've probably never been to a doctor either. LOL- uneducated people.

I am not condoning illegal activity, all I am saying is this article doesn't speak to the entire truth of the situation. This may seem unrelated but look at the situation with the customs officer- they are walking off the job because of extended hours.

What I am trying to highlight is if a person truly wants to work and is qualified to work I can't see how if a job is available they couldn't get it. I work in both the Bahamas and the US and I am not by any means saying the US is better because they to have their faults, but I see the young Bahamian men showing up to work high, they want to smoke and hold down a construction job.

There are many facets to this hiring of illegal immigrants to work situation in the Bahamas. My mentality is that of if you are qualified and are willing to work, willing to learn, and you are dependable then a job should be yours. Call it house negro mentality or whatever you chose but until Bahamians break that sense of entitlement unfourtuntely the illegals will always have the edge over us.
