Now, much of the $300 may have gone to the Sheraton for the venue, and I'm sure that's non refundable, but if there's anything left over, then that should go back to the parents.

Our problem is crime prevention. It's not use being satisfied with arresting the thug who committed the crime - there are 10 more waiting to take his place. We need to prevent it from happening in the first place.
Good for him. Despite Freedom of Religion being enshrined in the Constitution, it's all too often assumed that everyone in the country is Christian. It's nice to have a reminder that our population contains believer (of all religions) and non-believers alike.
The next step is to have an official separation of Church and State - the government has an obligation to represent every citizen, regardless of their religious and/or spiritual beliefs. They should never advocate one belief system over another, implicitly or explicitly.

I think you'd be surprised how much cellular infrastructure was set up over the last few years in anticipation of the end of BTC's monopoly.
