What few public restrooms are on the island, they're in unsanitary conditions. The idea of this ship coming to North Eleuthera was an ill-planned and ill-conceived idea. Basically, the people developed their own island with little gov't assistance, and the gov't hoped to reap from it.

Benjamin says...

Eleuthera has remained, for the most part, unscathed by past hurricanes, but as climate change and rising sea levels continue to threaten our archipelago, the dredging of our seabed in order to accommodate cruise ships may see that threat materialize.

St. George's Cay is 2,000 ft wide by 10,000 ft long and has the same challenges that Harbor Island has to accommodate 900+ daily visitors. The island is immaculate and quaint. There are no public restrooms. There are no mass transit options. So, obviously, there would be island-wide congestion on both St. George's and Russell Island.

Without public consultation with residents, a decision was made to use Spanish Wells as an entry point to 'Briland, which is a mere eight miles away.

What is abundantly clear is that this is exactly why we didn't want this cruise ship on Bahamian soil in the first place. Every week, Crystal Cruises demonstrates that its intentions are not pure and cannot be trusted with its promises and god-complex.

This is very troubling. Moreover, the same concerns that Harbour Island residents had can apply to Spanish Wells, too. The island is so small, and no doubt this is only a ploy by Crystal cruise to get their passengers to Briland through the back door.

Mr. Sherman, you missed the part where the ship will offload their 900 passengers to St George's Cay which is a mere 2sq miles. After 2 minutes, those people are sure to be bored and later take a ferry to... yes, you guessed it, harbour island.
