Any contracts related to crypto currency, Sand Dollar or otherwise, need to be reviewed closely. Since this editorial doesn't understand this let me make it explicit.
Blockchain and it's crypto currency applications, many of which we can't conceive of yet, will disrupt the international financial order completely. The Bahamas, being a tax haven and existing, safe, offshoring Nation; should lead here. This is a golden opportunity to do the same in blockchain as we did in international banking. If this sector created the Bahamian middle class, then it can grow it too. This means embracing new financial technologies from a strategic perspective, not choosing specific winners in the short term. This is time well spent.

Mario is on to something here. What is wrong with a sale on favourable terms? Find an out Island no one lives on and sell it to a group of billionaires so they can form their own Country (Think Turks & Caicos) and evade taxes in peace.

The additional $250k would go to a private seller with little benefit to the broader economy. I understand the point about a better caliber of visitor but don't think this is enough of a difference to affect that outcome. The better alternative is an extra $1000 per month in property taxes on the same property that would benefit the government. The foreign buyer can use the $250k to earn the $12k in additional annual taxes.

Take the 25% and then make them use the Gov payment system scam to skim another 12 points. Then have them get central bank approval to move it out of the Bahamas for another 5. That's 42% and we straight.

There are no Bahamians with experience creating a tier 1 Post-Secondary institution. Hiring one would therefore be taking a flyer, or giving someone a chance. Aren't there enough challenges to building an educational institution in a small Country?

The Bahamian government behaves like a teenage cellphone user moving from shut down to late payment to delinquent accounts. No other carrier to switch to? No prepaid water cards for the government to buy? lol! lol! These people represent the Bahamas and go ask for foreign loans to pay salaries. Why would anyone loan the Bahamas money if you refuse to pay the damn water bill? Where is the dimwit minister crying about the water of life during a pandemic? This isn't even a campaign issue.

If you want to die, go ahead and die. Don't get a vaccine and take your chances with your morbid obesity and undiagnosed diabetes. The real issue is the effect on the economy.....but alas, you are uneducated so the fact that tourists are afraid and can visit anywhere else or simply stay home, escapes you. So everyone suffers economically, including your family. Smart.

Presumably the Union would negotiate a collective agreement that benefits you more than you can negotiate on your own. If that is the case, shouldn't you pay for the representation? You would pay a lawyer to advocate for you anyway in the event of a dispute. Employers don't like collective bargaining because it eliminates the oldest and most successful conflict strategy; "divide and conquer".
